i prefer to save high-maintenance baking & assorted sugar endeavors for cakes, having finally learned my lesson from the 2002 christmas cookie debacle & the 2003 fleur de sel chocolate tempering nightmare.
that said, i've decided to try my hand at making rugelach this weekend, bearing in mind that even when i felt competent in baking & making non-cake things (prior to the 2002 & 2003 holiday baking seasons) i avoided rugelach because i'd heard that the process is very high-maintenance.
i'm not even doing cakes right now, so i certainly don't have any business making rugelach.
