NY Fashion Week: Spring/Summer 2009.

during fashion week, the volume of prints, patterns, drapes, colors & sculptural/architectural ____ is so overwhelming, that i decided to pick my focus based on whatever my eye was consistently being drawn to.

first up: the sleeveless.

---------------------
since i started following the fashion weeks, i don't think a single season has gone by when i didn't love rag & bone.

& i know i said sleeveless, but this look (& a lot more of them in the collection) is so modernly reminiscent of the pegged jeans & black loafers of the 80s aka back in my day, that i had to show my support for it.

although i loved Alexander Wang's Fall 08 collection, i did summarily dismiss it because i couldn't get behind torn hosiery on the runway. however, the reality is that i am 100% behind Alexander Wang. His designs fit my lifestyle to a T.

Rock & Republic fits my lifestyle to a T if i were six feet tall & a celebrity.

i did a triple-take on these pants. at first i thought they were silver. then i thought they were brushed velvet. then i realized they were acid wash jeans.

no. no. no. NO.

whenever i look at Vena Cava, i get this feeling that i'm looking right into their design sketchbooks. the private ones when they are first recording inspiration from alley & stall shopping in exotic locales & sketching out future collections.

I seem to remember Y-3 on someone's fashion week schedule for today (Sunday) but I've lost track of where that was & haven't been able to find any photos.

also, Wenlan Chia (of the big expensive yarn designs) is on the schedule for tomorrow. Photos? please & thank you.
